In February of 2007, I saw an awesome show by Smashing Pumpkins. They had a see-through silk screen that displayed images while you could still see the band. A video screen showcased various artsy graphics, images of the crowd and the band. The band interacted a lot with the audience and were quite funny. They even mentioned that Omaha is a place they would like to be, citing our bars with mechanical bulls. Smashing Pumpkins always surpass expectations - you think they're great, but they get even better every time you see them. They covered Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' during 'Half of My Heart' and riffed The Police's 'Wrapped Around Your Finger' during 'Assassin.' The show was unpredictable and a lot of fun. As a drummer myself, I was thrilled to see Steve Jordan on drums, a longtime favorite of mine since high school. Their live performance of 'Crossroads' was more captivating than the album version. It was definitely a cool show.
